We are two Brazilian sisters with a mission: to spread the love for pão de queijo. We have been making pão de queijo since we can remember. Our grandmother was born and raised in the farmlands of Minas Gerais state, where pão de queijo has originated in the 18th century. She learnt this skill from her grandmother and she passed it on to us. Baking pão de queijo is a tradition in our family.
Fast forwarding to life in Brighton, sometime in 2013, after years without making a single pão de queijo due to lack of time, space, right ingredients, and other excuses, we finally got some tapioca flour and started baking… it was love at second sight. We never stopped… people couldn’t have enough. Kids love them. We saw how much people over here enjoyed eating them, just like we do in Brazil.
A year later, we decided to start Tapi Bakes and to spread the love for pão de queijo.
